Meet Amber Nicole
“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”
I did not always call myself an artist. It took time, a leap of faith, and a lot of unlearning to get here.
I spent years building a career in other directions before I finally listened to the part of me that needed to create. Once I did, I threw myself into it completely. Shows, festivals, markets, and eventually my debut solo exhibition "My Hair Speaks Volumes" in 2022. That season taught me everything about what it means to build something from scratch and what it costs when you forget to take care of yourself along the way.
Burnout brought me back to the beginning. And the beginning reminded me why I started. Not just to make art, but to share it, teach it, and build spaces where other creatives feel like they belong too. That is where Canvas LXD was born.
My work has been featured in the Atlanta Tribune, Voyage ATL, Northside Neighbor, and WABE 90.1FM NPR: Speaking of the Arts. I have shown at Pancakes and Booze Art Show, Black Art Expo, For the Love of Hip Hop Art Show, The South Got Something to Say Virtual Exhibition, and the Decatur Arts Festival.
This is what I am here to do. Create without apology, teach without gatekeeping, and build a community where every creative feels like they were always supposed to be in the room.
